Power management and board-level parts
A server power requirement should identify the approved part, package, grade and board revision. A product-family description or output rating alone is not enough to establish compatibility. Include any requirement for the original ordering option, packing format or engineering-approved alternate.
Flag which lines are needed for prototype, repair or production builds. Those are different quantity and acceptance requirements. Avoid replacing a critical power component simply because another device has a similar description.
- PMICs, controllers and power-stage enquiries
- MOSFETs, protection devices and supporting passives
- Board-revision and package requirements
Memory and storage: specify the unit you need
Memory requirements may refer to a packaged device, a module or an accelerator assembly. State the actual ordering code, capacity, interface and form factor from the approved design. For enterprise storage, include the exact drive or assembly identifier and any firmware or qualification restriction.
For example, AMD lists the MI300X as an OAM accelerator with 192 GB of HBM3. That is an accelerator specification, not a listing for separately available HBM chips or proof of supply. Keep the component requirement separate from the platform name.
Interconnect, thermal and mechanical details
High-speed connectors and related assemblies need an exact identity, mating requirement and approved configuration. Include the manufacturer drawing when an ordering code does not fully describe the assembly. Cooling and mechanical parts should identify the relevant platform or approved assembly.
- Connectors, cables and interconnect assemblies
- Memory, storage and board-level components
- Cooling and mechanical items identified by part number
Immediate requirements and future builds
Separate the quantity needed now from forecast demand. A future build schedule is useful for review, but it does not create a confirmed supply reservation. Ask the written offer to show the quantity, proposed timing and validity of each option.
Send the destination, required date and acceptance requirements with the BOM. Identify items that cannot be substituted and those your engineering team can review. Documentation, price and delivery commitments remain specific to the quoted offer, rather than the AI platform as a whole.
